Sandboarding
Our friendly and professional staff will take you on an exciting 4WD adventure up into the largest moving coastal sand dunes in the Southern hemisphere in our exclusive air-conditioned off-road 4WD vehicles.
They will then instruct you on how to sand board and answer any questions you may have. Our first priority is your safety and to ensure your sandboarding adventure will be a joyful memory not to be forgotten.
Duration
Typically 30 to 60 minutes leaves most exhausted.

A visit to the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary entails a round trip walk of about 1km in length. All pathways and elevated viewing platforms are easily accessible designed for all ages and abilities. Some limited bench seating is provided along the Sanctuary Story Walk and SKYwalk. We recommend that you wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen for sun protection and drink plenty of water to remain hydrated.

The tour
The beach and dune tour is designed to give customers a taste of our amazing Australian beaches, walking along and feeling the sand between their toes. This backdrop allows for amazing photos and our guides will give a brief commentary about the beach, and show you the local Pipis, and how to wiggle and find them. After our beach component, drive up into the dunes for our Sandboarding Adventure for 45-50mins on the largest moving coastal sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere.

*EVERYONE TRAVELLING TO THE DUNES MUST PURCHASE A TICKET REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THEY ARE SANDBOARDING OR NOT
*ALL CHILDREN 16 AND UNDER MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.
*ACCOMPANYING ADULTS/SPECTATORS CAN PURCHASE A 4WD TRIP ONLY/SPECTATOR TICKET. THERE IS SHADE, TABLES AND CHAIRS AVAILABLE AT THE DUNES (WEATHER PERMITTING)
On our Sandboarding adventure, we will take you on a scenic drive across the magnificent dunes to our private Sand Boarding area, where we have shade, tables and chairs setup. Bring a picnic!
Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of our friendly instructor/guides who will show you the safe method of sand boarding for both sit down and stand up styles. We have all different sized dunes for all ages and abilities. It’s up to you whether you sit or stand, we have boards available with our without bindings. You can even ride tandem!
You can stay and play as long as you like (Most people spend 1-2 hours). We have shuttles going back and forth every 10-15 minutes. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
*Arrive at our ticket booth in the Lower Car Park, End of James Paterson St Anna Bay.
*Check in with our friendly staff.
*Board one of our vehicles for the 10 minute drive over the dunes to our Sandboarding location.
*One of our instructors will teach you the safe method of both sit down and stand up boarding.
*Stay and Play as long as you like! Most people spend 1-2 hours, but it’s up to you.
*Let one of our instructors know that you are ready to leave and we will send a vehicle to pick you up and return you to the car park.
*Our vehicles run every 10-15 minutes.
Our ticket booth is located in the Lower Car Park, End of James Paterson St Anna Bay.
It has 2 black and white chequered flags on the roof.
Arrive 5 minutes before your session.
If you are running late, that’s no problem , please text us to let us know and you can hop on the next bus (shuttles every 10-15 minutes).
*Dress for the weather. We suggest beach clothes during the summer and warmer clothes during winter.
*Bottled water, some snacks if you wish
*Hats, sunscreen and sunglasses recommended.
*Sandboarding is done barefoot, you can wear your shoes up to the location and take them off there.
*Camera/phone is a must to capture all those memories!
*A small bag for all your belongings.
The 4WD trip itself is suitable for pregnant women, but we don’t recommend doing the Sandboarding activity.
People with impaired mobility can join the 4WD trip, we have a variety of vehicles that may be suitable. Please contact us for further information. There is also a shaded picnic area where they can sit and watch the activities.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations must be received in writing via email to sanddunesafaris@live.com.au, or text us on 0425 213 096.
At least 24 hours notice must be given for any cancellation, a 100% cancellation fee will apply to cancellations within 24 hours of departure time. Alternatively we can also issue a credit or change the date or time (no fees for changing dates/times).
No Refunds will be given if the customer is a no show. In the case of bad weather, we reserve the right to cancel bookings. If it's decided to be unsafe for staff/customers and for the activity to go ahead , a full refund will be issued.
No refunds will be given due to change of mind.
Home to the largest mobile sand dunes in the southern hemisphere, Stockton Beach is truly a sight to behold. Extending from Stockton all the way up to Port Stephens, this helicopter flight gives you an overview of one of Australia’s most incredible landscapes.
Cruising up Stockton beach at 500 feet, see the remains of MV Sygna, a 53,000 tonne Norwegian bulk carrier which had crashed ashore during powerful storms in 1974 and a glimpse of the historic Tin City, located on the northern stretch of the beach.
As you leave the huge rolling sand dunes behind, a picture-perfect panoramic view of the Port Stephens area awaits. With Port Stephens being a large natural harbor of approximately 134 square kilometers it's home to a host of marine life. Keep your eyes peeled as it’s not uncommon to spot whales breaching, dolphins playing or the odd great white shark lurking along this stretch of waters.
This Dunes and Port Stephens scenic flight take you over the eastern boundaries of the bay with spectacular views of Anna Bay, Fingal lighthouse, Mount Tomaree National Park, Hawks Nest and more before returning to Newcastle via Williamtown RAAF Base.
So, sit back relax and enjoy the incredible coastal views and stunning scenery on this helicopter tour of Newcastle and Port Stephens!

Organise your group of family, friends or work mates. Bring your social or church group, your sports team or the entire club…any reason will do.
From individual players to the largest groups – our professional and dedicated staff will ensure everyone has a great time!
These events are considered public events and other groups are likely to be playing alongside you. We will do the best we can to keep your group together, but at times, it may be required to split groups to balance teams and keep the game fair for all players. YOU do not need minimum numbers of players to book in for these events but please note that WE need a minimum number of players to stage the event for the enjoyment of all. We will only confirm your booking when have reached the minimum number of 10 players and will happily proceed when we’ve reached this number.
Want some no-nonsense, all-action gaming? Our Open Play Laser Tag events are 2 hours of a mix of team based and objective-based gaming. Come by yourself, or recruit your friends!
Please Note: For a session to go ahead, we must have a minimum of 10 players booked into the session. If there are less than 10 when before your activity date, your payment method will be refunded. After we have 10 players booked in, no minimum numbers of players per group apply.

Port Stephens Surf School has two group surf lessons per day.
